Hello ladies! One more day to the end of the Lunar New Year! I hope everyone’s had a really good one the last 14 days or so. If you follow me on Instagram, I spent my CNY in Bangkok with the hubs. Decided to take advantage of the long weekend to do some eating and shopping
When packing for my Bangkok trip, I only had one criteria in mind – to pack as light as possible because I planned to shop! More about that in a later post.
This was the first time that I only packed one makeup palette for a vacation. I chose to go with the MAC Look In A Box I received several weeks back.
The box was very solid and handy, it’s one of those solid cardboard which is not easily bent. Size wise, it is pretty small, fits nicely into your palm. It’s got MAC embossed all over the box. When you open up the box, you will see different hues of beige, browns and neutral shades.
It comes with 6 eyeshadow shades, 1 blush, 1 bronzer and 2 lip colours. The box even comes complete with a dual ended brush – one side for blending eyeshadow and another side for the lips.
The shades, as you can see from the pictures above, are very pretty and definitely something that is wearable for school, work, night out, given the mixture of light, matte, satin shades.
Although the colours were neutral and easy to wear, I wasn’t particularly impressed with the eyeshadows. I found them to be a little dry and not quite as pigmented as I would like, but this is quite typical of MAC all-in-one type palettes. Don’t get me wrong, they do the job pretty well, just that if I had this palette and the MAC Cinderella Stroke of Midnight palette to pick, I would most definitely pick the latter.
The lip shades were really pretty, they are creamy and reasonably pigmented. I wouldn’t use them with a brush, but prefer to dab them on with my fingers to create a natural flush of colour on the lips.
The palette retails for $110 and you might still find them in stores now.
Here’s a look that I wore almost every single day in Bangkok using this palette.
